Reading Hydro is a Community Benefit Society. This means that it is run by its members.
Reading Hydro is a Community Benefit Society (CBS). This means that we’re a democratic co-operative that serves our community by committing our profits back into local causes. You can find out more here about how community benefit societies work, or read more about it in our blog.
Our membership comprises itself of ordinary people from all over the UK, enthused about what Reading Hydro is doing. Each have paid £1 to join up and each have a say and a vote at our AGM’s. All of our members have an open invitation to participate in our regular members’ meetings and Action Evenings.
The Directors, elected at our AGM’s from within the membership, lead the project forward. As Directors, they are held responsible for delivery and the general running of the Society and meet regularly to make sure everything is going to plan.
Members and Supporters
Reading Hydro CBS is a growing network of active members and supporters, many local to Reading. The wide variety of backgrounds and reasons for joining the project means that the membership are a real pool of talent and expertise to draw from. Our members are the backbone of our Society.
